In the last video, we showed you how you could embed a Wordwall activity in our forum. Want to try it out? Use this forum to add a Wordwall activity. This is completely optional though, so don’t feel you have to do this.
Penny, you need to be careful that no extra elements get added to the code and it’s copied exactly from the site, you’ll notice there’s an extra quote mark right at the start, and the allowfullscreen part has extra quote marks after it, that might have caused the problem, need to delete those. When copied, your code should look like this:
Hi all
here is a revision task of the terminology we have faced so far…enjoy!!
I tried to embed – do it all the time in Canvas but like the others above when I follow the procedure strictly it just displays the link and not the embedded item so here is a link instead.
I noticed that when I tried to embed it by copying and pasting it, it wouldn’t work, it would show like everyone else’s. When I went back to edit the text, I noticed that the HTML had been changed automatically as soon as I had submitted it. I even tried adding some extra HTML but that didn’t work either.
I don’t know what I am doing wrong but in draft form the embed code looks the same but when I post it then it appears like many of the others, just as a code. I have gone back to try to check (edit) and noticed the code had changed (?), so I copied it again and posted it, and I still get:
Sorry to @jemima @spottypoppy @ptzanni @suerobbins @david-l @thomasleach @caitlin for the issues with embedding. I did a bit of research and it seems like it’s only something that administrators (i.e. me and Juliet) can do, but it’s blocked for others. I broke my own rule of always checking ‘student’ view as well as ‘teacher’ view when looking at tech tools.
However, I’ve managed to enable it so that if you use the Visual Editor and just paste the normal link – not the embed link, just the normal web link – it should embed it automatically in the forum (I’m hoping). I tested it on a non-admin account and it seemed to work… if anyone can try it, that would be great.
Second attempt – not sure what happened first time I tried.
